Inside the cave!

A tour of the beautiful cave, where, according to myth, Hermes was born, organized by the Hellenic Speleological & Exploration Club (SPELEO) especially for the duration of the festival!

Saturday, August 31st at 10:00.

The Hellenic Speleological & Exploration Club (SPELEO) experienced team will coordinate a secure descent into the singular cave of Hermes, free of charge for all interested participants. A unique speleological experience, now marking its seventh year.

For highlights from the descent organized by SPELEO during the 5th Ziria Festival, see the following video.

The Cave of Hermes stands out for its depth and colorful stalactites.

On account of its relatively difficult descent, the cave remains unexploited by tourism, making it even more enchanting.

The cave’s entrance is situated in a remarkably beautiful location with an amazing view of Flampourista Gorge.

Learn more about the cave via the following link, from a previous SPELEO tour-seminar: http://fysiolatres.blogspot.gr/2010/05/blog-post_7464.html

To safeguard visitors as well as the cave, an extensive team of speleologists will install security rope at difficult passages, provide helmets and headlamps, and offer instructions and assistance to visitors throughout.

Those who wish to live this unique experience are advised to bring along hiking shoes.

Participation will be on a first come, first served basis. Registration is mandatory and opens Friday morning at the Athletic Center chalet.
